SITUATION OF STEEL MARKET IN VIETNAM IN FEBRUARY 2018 AND 2018

Market situation of raw materials for steel production:

The situation of production – sales of steel products:
February 2018:
– Production of steel products reached 1.529.717 tons, down 20% over the previous month, and a slight increase of 0,7% over the same period of 2017
– Steel sales in the country reached 1,350,986 tons, down 18% compared with January 2018, and 5,3% over the same period last year.
– VSA’s steel exports were over 364.363 tons, up by 36% over the same period last year.
2 Months 2018::
– Production of steel products reached 3.690.915 tones, up 27% over the same period in 2017
– Steel sales in the country reached 3.014.552 tons, up 30,7% over the same period last year.
– VSA’s steel exports reached over 728.480 tons, ip 38,6% over the same period of 2017.
The situation of import and export of steel products in 11 months 2017:
- Import situation:
– By the end of January 31, 1818, import of steel of all kinds reached nearly 1,2 million tons, with total import turnover reached more than 808 million, down 5% in volume, but ncreased 22 % in value
– China remains the main import market, with imports of nearly thousand tons of steel, down 40% in volume but only down 11% in value; The share of steel imported from this country only accounts for ~34% of total imported steel products, a significant reduction in the proportion of steel imports from Vietnam compared to previous years (usually about 50% in total imports) .
– Next came Japan (17%), South Korea (15.68%), Taiwan (13.33%), India (7.65%).
- Export situation:
– By the end of 1/2018, the export of steel products reached over 446.000 tons, with export turnover reached 321 million USD, up 38% in volumn, and 63% in value.
– ASEAN is still the main export market, with over 300.000 tons exported, accounting for more than 67% of the total output of steel products.
– Next is the United States (11.28%), EU (5, 07%), Taiwan (3.42%), South Korea (3.15%).
